What a week this has been! 

Life is so unpredictable! 

You think you have everything planned out, but nothing goes according to the plan!

You try to make allowances for interruptions, but you still run out of time!

I won't bore you with the details, but I am sure you will know what I'm talking about. 

Why is it so impossible to control our time? For years, I attended business courses and seminars about time management. Eventually, I gave some lectures about the same subject, but I still struggled to manage my time. I can schedule tasks, arrange meetings, and draw up lists, but controlling time is ultimately impossible. 

Now, don't get me wrong; I'm quite efficient. My desk is uncluttered, and I work my way through lists. I get a lot done in a day, but time beats me. 

I think the question really is, is it possible to control time? You can manage what you do with your time, but time never stops. It marches on relentlessly. 

This is true in every aspect of life. Minutes tick away, growing into hours. Hours grow into days. Days turn into weeks. Weeks turn into months. Months turn into years, and before you know it, middle age has crept up on you. Old age is not a lifetime away, and you think, where has it all gone?

In Ecclesiastes chapter three, Solomon reminds us there is a time to be born and a time to die. 

The scriptures warn us of the end of life creeping up on us rapidly in Psalm 90:9-11 - 'For all our days have declined in Your fury; we have finished our years like a sigh. As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years,

yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away. Who understands the power of Your anger and Your fury, according to the fear that is due You?

In light of the brevity of time and the suddenness of death, it would be wise to prepare to meet God. 

Have you prepared? You can do this by repenting of your sins and turning to God for forgiveness. The Bible summarises the final stage of conversion in these words: 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved' (Acts 16:31).

Why you will need the Bible in 2019

The Bible is the world’s best selling book. It doesn’t need any one to defend it. It is the word of God and as such is powerful and effective without human intervention. The bible claims to be able to ‘discern the thoughts and intents  of the heart,’ Hebrews 4:12. It also stated that it is ‘able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus,’ 2 Timothy 3:15.

Good Tidings from Heaven

Have a Good Day

We all have been the recipient of the greeting, "Have a good day." Did you ever think that you can really have a good day, not only today, but every day?

A GOOD DAY AND A GOOD FOREVER

It is our wish for everyone not only to have a good day, but to have a good forever. How can you have a good day if you are not assured of a good forever? You may try to ignore the future by concentrating on the pleasures of this life. You may be partly successful with this and even say to yourself, "Take your ease, eat, drink and be merry" Luke 12.19. However, if you do not know where you will be when your life is over, thoughts of the future will inevitably return to spoil your present joys.

ONE THING CAN RUIN BOTH

God has provided a way for everyone to have a good forever, but, if you do not avail yourself of that way, then your future is foretold in Hebrews 9.27: "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment". Death and judgment are the results of sin for "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3.23. Sin will keep you from having a good forever, and it will keep you from having a good day. If you die in your sins, it will be too late to change your forever, Revelation 20.15.

TODAY CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Thankfully you can change that future now. "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" 2Corinthians 6.2. God, Who is holy and must punish sin, is also a God of love. He has provided a way for sinners to be saved from the consequences of their sin. God is longsuffering toward us, and is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" 2Peter 3.9. In fact, God never prepared hell for man but for the devil and his angels, Matthew 25.41.

THE PRICE HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID

The salvation that God provided does not set aside His holiness and righteousness. It is summed up for us in Romans 5.8: "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Christ, the sinless Son of God, satisfied all of God’s holy and righteous requirements by dying for our sins. God’s wrath and judgment against sin were met by Christ when He suffered the awful agonies of the cross, Matthew 27.46; 1 Peter 3.18.

WHAT IS THE WAY?

Yes, God has provided a way for you and me to have a good forever. This way of salvation is open to all who will confess their sins to God in true repentance, believe that Jesus died for them, and receive Him as their Lord and Saviour. If you trust Christ, the power of death will be broken and there will be no judgment ahead for you because Jesus Christ has said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" John 5.24. Your sins will all be forgiven and your future will be bright and clear with a certainty of being with Christ in heaven.

THE SOURCE OF GOOD DAYS

As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ you will not only be sure of a good forever, you will also be able to have a good day every day. Jesus will never leave you, and the more you fellowship with Him through prayer and reading the Bible daily, the more you will experience His presence in your life. Even when everything around you seems dark and discouraging, God’s presence in your life brings "fulness of joy" Psalm 16.11.

Fearsome Friday

Most people like this day of the week the best which is strange seeing they still go to work most Friday's. TGF has become a standard abbreviation to express delight in the fact it's Friday. This just shows that people enjoy the anticipation of events as much as the events themselves. 

How many people plan their holidays months in advance. It's not just about being well organised; it's the anticipation of the time off, the things you'll do, the freedom, the relaxation and so much more. The vacation comes and goes so quickly you could conclude that it's hardly worth the effort; yet the two weeks are just part of the event. 

I'm really looking forward to a very special event in my life. It's not retirement even though officially it's not that far away. It's the day when I see Jesus Christ face to face. The Bible says that one day every eye shall see him. For many seeing Jesus is not something they should be looking forward to. 

Why you might ask? The simple answer is because they will meet him as their Judge. God has appointed Jesus as the "Judge of all the earth", (Genesis 17, John 5, Acts 17).

Why am I excited to see the Lord Jesus Christ? Let me tell you. He's my Saviour, he gave his life for me when he was crucified so many years ago. To quote the Apostle Paul I can say he's "the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me". Can you say this truthfully?
