One book you ought to read more than once!

Although it is impossible to get precise statistics it is clear that the Bible is the world's best-selling and most widely distributed book. A number of years ago the Bible Society did a survey and came to the conclusion that around 2.5 billion copies of the Bible were printed between 1815 and 1975. More up to date figures put the number at more than 5 billion.

The Bible has been translated into 349 languages; 2,123 languages have at least one book of the Bible in that language source - the Bible Society.

A case of good manners!

‘Put your mobile phone away during meals, never eat on the train, and remember that reclining your aeroplane seat is selfish’. So says the DeBrett’s Handbook of Modern Manners. They’ve been dispensing advice on etiquette for 250 years, and the latest edition includes protocols for smartphones and e-cigarettes. Memorising their rules should enable anyone of us to avoid causing offence in any setting.

Which version of the bible should you read?

A lady told me while I was running a street meeting this week that she did not read the Bible because she did not know which version to read. My advice was go and buy a bible and read it because they all will tell you the same message. As a Christian I want to read an accurate translation of the bible but did you know that which ever Bible you read you will learn the same basic facts about us, God, sin, judgement, salvation, repentance and faith in God.

If you don't have a bible go and buy one today. The Lord Jesus said 'he that hears my word and believes on Him that sent me, has everlasting life and shall not come into judgement but is passed from death unto life'. The book of Romans in the Bible says 'faith comes by hearing...the word of God'.
