It couldn't be done

The Poetry Foundation website has this poem by Albert Edward Guest entitled ‘It Couldn’t Be Done’.

Somebody said it couldn’t be done but he

with a chuckle replied

That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be

one who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin

on his face, if he worried he hid it.

He started to sing as he tackled the thing

that couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Somebody scoffed: Oh, you'll never do that;
at least no one ever has done it;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat and the first thing we knew hed begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
that couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, there are thousands to prophesy failure,

There are thousands to point out to you one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
thatcannot be done, and youll do it
Just take off your coat and go to it; just start in to sing as you tackle the thing that cannot be done, and you’ll do it.

Albert Guest most certainly had a sense of
humour in presenting the opposite views of
the pessimist and the optimist. The half empty,
half full glass is still very much the outlook of
many people. In the spiritual realm this
translates to either believing or not believing in
the God of the Bible, and the Bible to be the
Word of God to man.

The Atheist says that there is no God and that
all matter and life evolved over millions of
years and that all creation could not be done
made in six days.

The Agnostic says “I don’t know” and
generally does not care and gets on with life
as they want it.

The Intelligent Design person takes a
‘halfway house’ position rejecting the
evolution theory but not ascribing creation to
God. They infer that creation could be done
but by who?

The Born-again Christian believes the Bible
from cover to cover, from Genesis 1:1 to
Revelation 22:21, that God (Jehovah Elohim)is
the Creator of all life and matter, and what
couldn’t be done He did it in six, twenty four
hour days.

Since the days of Darwin evolution has
become increasingly the faith of Atheists, so
that today there is an aggressive hostility
against those who preach and teach the Word
of God.

Christians love to share their faith with

everyone and anyone, anywhere. They love to
tell of things that could not be done but
God did them. He enabled Noah to
save a limited company when the rest of the
world was in liquidation. He enabled Abram
and Sarah to produce a son named Isaac, who
had a son named Jacob. His name was
changed by God to Israel. Nations such as
Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Germany and many
Arab nations have sought to annihilate them
but could not, because God made a promise
to them that there would be a land and a
kingdom.

Isaiah 7:14 says

”Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

That virgin was Mary and her son is Jesus. He

did many things that other men could not do.
By His touch He cleansed lepers, made blind
folk to see, healed the sick, and raised the dead.
He walked on water; He fed multitudes with a
few fish and loaves. His greatest work was on
the cross where He through death defeated
him who had the power of death, the devil.

By the sacrifice of His life He has made it

possible for all to be saved from eternal
damnation. All who believe and receive Him as
their personal Savior will be with Him in
Heaven and with Him in that thousand year
reign on earth.

Some say that the raising of the dead (resurrection) cannot be done, but
watch this space, there will be millions of smiling faces and voices shouting, “HE DID IT!”

Will you be among the ransomed throng in

that great day?  You can be sure by turning
from your atheism, agnostic and intelligent
design position and put your faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ today.
